Alan L. Farkas established the firm in 1983 after eight years at Booz Allen Hamilton, where he was a partner and vice president. For over 30 years, he has helped firms develop long-range strategies, diversify into new markets, and improve organizational effectiveness. He now devotes his energies to running two invitation-only conferences that the firm co-hosts, one for CEOs and the other for CIOs of leading design and construction firms. He holds A.B. and M.A. degrees in international relations from Princeton and Yale Universities, respectively.
Joan B. Berkowitz, Ph.D. began her management consulting career at Arthur D. Little, where she was a vice president. She specializes in analyzing environmental and infrastructure markets to assist clients in developing strategies for growth and profitability. She has a Ph.D. in physical chemistry from the University of Illinois and is a graduate of the senior executive program of the MIT Sloan School. She is an adjunct professor in the environmental management department in the gradute school at the University of Maryland University College.
